15 Chapters receive funding through the International Children's Peace Prize Project Fund
Each year, KidsRights presents the International Children’s Peace Prize to a child who courageously fights for children’s rights. In addition to supporting the winners, KidsRights also supports projects of other young changemakers related to the winner’s theme. In January, we launched a call for State of Youth Chapters focused on promoting peace and education around the world. This theme was based on last year’s International Children’s Peace Prize winner, Bana Alabed (Syria/Turkey), a 15-year-old who has become a powerful voice for children in warzones advocating for peace. This call for proposals was financially supported by WereldWijd voor Kinderen (WWvK).
We received almost 100 applications from our Chapters globally, and after careful review by our diverse selection committee, we are proud to announce the 15 Chapters that will receive funding to implement projects tackling peace and education at the grassroots level. At a time when the global context is increasingly shaped by conflict and division, we are especially encouraged to be able to support and announce these inspiring youth-led initiatives focused on peace and education. The selected projects demonstrate the creativity, resilience, and leadership of young changemakers.
From advancing inclusive education in Brazil to leading peer-driven peace initiatives in Indonesia, expanding access to education for refugees in Uganda, and fostering inclusion between refugees and local communities in Germany, these projects highlight the power of youth to drive meaningful change in their communities.
