What happens when young people don’t just join the conversation but help lead it?

At the heart of State of Youth is the Youth Board, a group of committed young leaders who help shape the direction and priorities of the movement. The Youth Board represents the values of meaningful youth participation and ensures that decisions are informed by the perspectives and experiences of young people themselves.

The Youth Board of State of Youth  brings together a group of young leaders who are shaping the direction of the programme from their own lived experience. They know the challenges children and young people face because they experience them, challenge them, and create solutions for them every day.

As the youth-led advisory board of State of Youth, they help guide the programme’s direction, support fellow changemakers, and represent State of Youth on local, national and global stages. From community events and conferences to social media and advocacy platforms, they amplify the voices of young people who are driving change in their communities.

Their mission

  • Advise and help shape the direction of State of Youth as its youth-led advisory board.
  • Strengthen the State of Youth network by supporting changemakers and Chapter Leaders around the world.
  • Represent State of Youth online and offline through events, advocacy, campaigns and community engagement.

Together, they bring bold ideas, local knowledge and a deep commitment to creating change. They have launched digital tools, led campaigns, trained young leaders, spoken at international events and built partnerships across borders. From refugee camps and classrooms to climate forums and community centres, they are proving that young people do not need to wait for permission to make a difference.

"Being on the Youth Board means creating space for more young people to show up, share their stories and realise their voices actually matter. "
